General Information
What is the intended use of the AVE 2 Birthing Bed?
It is designed for mothers-to-be during all stages of labour, including postpartum recovery. It supports multiple birthing positions, including active and partner-supported birth positions.
Can the AVE 2 be used for Caesarean sections or as a crib?
No. It is not intended for elective Caesarean sections or for leaving a newborn unattended.
Operation
How do I adjust the bed height and sections?
Use the side control panel for motorised adjustments (i.e. adjusting the backrest, pelvic tilt and height of the birthing bed). Manual CPR positioning is available via the red lever.
The positioning of the integrated foot section, leg rests and lithotomy poles can each be adjusted using the attached levers.

What is the duty cycle for motor operation?
2 minutes ON, followed by 18 minutes OFF.
How do I activate the Trendelenburg position?
Press and hold the orange-marked button until positioning completes.
Can the patient operate the controls?
Yes, but only if assessed and trained by hospital staff.
Safety
What precautions should be taken during transport?
When transporting the AVE 2 Birthing Bed, disconnect all power cables, set the bed to its lowest position and secure all accessories. Use the rear handles only to push the bed.
What is the maximum patient weight for the AVE 2 Birthing Bed?
The maximum patient weight 240kg (529 lb). The safe working load is 255 kg (562 lb).
Is the bed safe for use in oxygen tents or explosive environments?
No. Do not use in oxygen-enriched or flammable environments.
How do I prevent patient falls?
Always leave the bed in the lowest position when unattended and ensure side rails are upright.
Cleaning & Disinfection
Can automated cleaning systems be used to clean the AVE 2?
No. Use manual cleaning only with pH-neutral detergent and approved disinfectants.
Which disinfectants are recommended?
Quaternary ammonium compounds, hydrogen peroxide and chlorine-based solutions (up to 10,000 ppm for heavy contamination).

Can the mattress be machine washed?
No. The foam cores must not be machine washed. However, the top cover can be washed in an industrial laundry following specified temperature and rinse guidelines.

Maintenance
How often should the AVE 2 Birthing Bed be serviced?
The AVE 2 Birthing Bed should be serviced at least once per year or after any repair/electrical intervention. Failure to do so can void the warranty.
Who can perform repairs?
Only technicians trained and approved by the manufacturer can perform repairs. Only original spare parts should be used.
What is the expected lifespan of the bed?
The AVE 2 Birthing Bed has a lifespan of approximately 15 years with proper maintenance. Gas springs should be replaced every 12 years; batteries have a limited lifespan and must be replaced when necessary.

What is the warranty period for the AVE 2?
The AVE 2 Birthing Bed comes with a 24 month warranty from the date of purchase.
What is excluded from warranty?
Damage from misuse, external factors and unauthorised/unprofessional repairs are all excluded from the warranty.
