The Oceanis birth pool is designed for use in hospital environments and can be cleaned with disinfectant wipes and chlorine-based disinfectant solutions.

NaDCC or NaOCl solutions up to 10,000ppm are acceptable; however, to maximise the life span and cosmetic appearance of the pool, it is essential not to exceed the manufacturer's solution strength or contact time recommendations.

It is also important that surfaces are rinsed with fresh water and patted dry thereafter.

A step-by-step guide is noted below:

  1. Drain the birth pool and remove all visible debris. Rinse all hard surfaces.
Ensure there is nothing left in the pool that could cause scratches or abrasions to the surface.
  2. The plug can be removed for close-up cleaning and removal of dirt, if required.
  3. Prepare the disinfectant solution to the manufacturer's instructions.
  4. Apply the disinfectant solution to the pool's hard surface(s) by either:
    1. Dipping a soft cloth in a bowl of the correct solution strength and wiping all surfaces accordingly.
    2. Filling the birth pool with water and adding in the correct amount of tablets to create the recommended solution strength.  Wipe all surfaces accordingly.
      1. Whilst using a soft cloth may be the standard method of operation, a soft mop with a disposable mop head could help to reach into the bottom of the pool with improved ergonomics.
      2. Please ensure that the cleaning cloths are new and free of anything that could cause scratching/abrasion during cleaning
  5. Allow the recommended contact time in-line with the manufacturer's instructions.
  6. After the contact time has ended, open the drain (as applicable) and moisten another cloth with hand-warm tap water.
  7. Wipe the hard surfaces to remove any remaining visible dirt, limescale or cleaning residues with the cloth.
  8. Rinse the Oceanis® using the shower head.
  9. Dry the entire tub and replace the plug.

DO NOT:

  • Use cream cleaners.
  • Use scouring pads or abrasive cleaning pads.
  • Use any cleaning agent or fabric that could cause abrasion or scratching.
  • Use detergent solutions in excess of the manufacturer's recommended solution strength or contact time.
  • Use the pool to wash objects within (as a sink)
