Is it designed for use in hospitals?

Yes.  It is designed for repeated use in high-traffic wards and is durable, comfortable and easy to clean with disinfectant solutions. 

Beds that are designed for use in residential care settings often have a mesh base and/or spring-loaded mechanism.  These designs are not suited to high throughput wards where cleaning and easy set-up are essential.   

Is it easy to set-up?

Yes, you fold down one side and then fold down the other side.  Ready!

 

Can it be set-up by parents/partners?

Yes.  It’s very easy for parents/partners to use and they will feel comfortable doing this unaided.

 

Is it spring loaded?

No.  The opening and closing mechanism is controlled by you, at your pace.  There is no spring loading or “exploding” tension.

 

How much space does it need when stored?

It folds up into a very compact footprint, with only 38cm depth.  To give that some perspective, in the footprint of one regular hospital bed, you could store 5 * Croyde Fold Away beds.

Is it easy to move?

Yes, very.  It can easily be moved by one person. It has 4 lockable castors and is extremely well-balanced.   

 

Is it supplied with a mattress?

Yes, the mattress is supplied as standard.

 

Is the mattress waterproof?

Yes, the mattress is waterproof, breathable, two-way stretch, Crib 5 fire retardant and fully compliant with infection control requirements.

 

Can it be cleaned with Clinell wipes?

Yes.  Use standard answer from other FAQs

 

Does it have a mesh base?

No.  Mesh bases are almost impossible to clean and are prone to retaining dirt and dust.  The Croyde bed has a solid base that is easily wiped and cleaned.

Is it supplied with a storage cover?
