Choosing the Right Birth Pool: Generosa, Oceanis, and Combipool

Choosing the right birth pool for your space is important so we wanted to share some information to help you make the right choice.

Generosa: The Generosa is the smallest pool in our range and may be the best choice if space is limited. Introducing waterbirth to a small room is still possible, but ensure there is sufficient space around the pool for access and emergency situations. Click this link to view the dimensions

Oceanis: The Oceanis is our standard/mid-size pool and the most popular choice. It features an integrated birth seat with a perineal cutout and ample floor space for free movement. The internal pillars provide foot placement when leaning against the pool wall. Click this link to view the dimensions

Combipool: The Combipool is the largest pool in our range, but its internal space is similar to the Oceanis. Its larger external dimensions accommodate an integrated seat for assessments, birth partner engagement, and ease of entry/exit. Note that the optional entry steps with a handrail are on the side of the Combipool, unlike the end positioning on the Oceanis. Consider this in relation to your room's shape. Recommendations:

Unless space is a significant constraint, we recommend opting for a regular-sized pool over a smaller one. The additional freedom of movement is invaluable. While larger pools are more expensive, consider it a long-term investment lasting 10-20 years. Since upgrades aren't possible, choosing the right pool with the right specifications is crucial.

If you'd like to visualize the footprint of any of these pools in your room, we offer fabric cut-outs for each model that can be placed on the floor, helping you understand the available space around the pool.  You can arrange this through our Contact Us link
