AVE 2 Birthing Bed Cleaning Instructions
This contains all of the cleaning information for the AVE 2 Birthing Bed.
General Guidelines
- Do not use automated cleaning or sterilisation methods.
- Use soft cloth and pH-neutral detergent for basic cleaning.
- Avoid abrasive agents, ketone-based solvents, and excessive water ( to avoid risk of motor damage).
- Disinfectants should be hospital-approved, applied by qualified personnel, and compatible with bed materials.
- Never use phenolic-based cleaners or strong acids/alkalis.
- Always rinse and dry thoroughly before reuse.
- Do not exceed pH 9 for detergents.
Cleaning the Birthing Bed
- Clean all surfaces: head/seat/foot sections, side rails, frame, undercarriage, castors, brake pedals, infusion stand, and accessories.
- Lift the upholstery to clean hidden areas.
- Do NOT use: Alcohol >30%, active chlorine, iodine, aldehydes.
Leatherette Upholstery
- Clean with warm water + neutral detergent; avoid abrasives and phenolic cleaners.
- Dry thoroughly before reuse.
- Disinfect using approved disinfectants.
- Do NOT bleach or use solvents.
DUOCOAT Mattress Set
- General cleaning: Warm water + neutral detergent; rinse and dry.
- Disinfection:
- Top cover: Sodium hypochlorite (up to 10,000 ppm for heavy contamination; 5,000 ppm routine).
- Inner covers: Sodium hypochlorite up to 5,000 ppm.
- Avoid strong acids, alkalis, solvents, and abrasives.
- The top cover only can be washed in an industrial washing machine. However, it should not be used in a continuous industrial washing machine.
- Do NOT bleach or steam sterilise.
Chemical Restrictions
- Do NOT use: Phenolics, iodophors, peracetic acid, steam sterilization, dry heat.
- Acceptable: Chlorine (1,000–10,000 ppm), alcohol (≤70%), hydrogen peroxide (3%), QAS (3–15%).
Covering the Bed
- Always protect bed with hospital bedding, disposable sheets, or terrycloth covers before use.
- Ensure all sections (seat, back, foot, leg rests) are properly coated.
Key Safety Notes
- Disable function buttons during cleaning.
- Put upholstery/mattress back only on dry surfaces.
- Improper cleaning can lead to infection risk or damage (not covered by warranty).
