How do I increase/decrease the temperature setting?

Press and hold the UNLOCK button and then INC/DEC to increase or decrease the temperature setting.  The UNLOCK button avoids involuntary adjustment of mattress temperature.

What temperature can the control unit be set to:

The range can be set anywhere between 23°C and 38°C in increments of 0.1°C

Can the max temp setting be set higher to 39°C?

The max temp setting is 38°C.  While it is technically possible to increase this setting, such a change would require re-submission of the product’s technical file, which would invalidate the current CE marking.  We would be happy to consider this change if there is sufficient demand or a change in best practice guidance to support it, however, it is worth noting that having reviewed a number of other products in the market, the max temp setting of 38°C appears to be standard.

How long does it take the mattress to heat up?

The mattress surface temperature increases from 23 ± 2°C to 37°C in approx 10 minutes

Can it be cleaned with chlorine-based cleaning solutions and/or Clinell wipes?

Yes.  However, to maximise the life span of the mattress cover it is important that the best practice guidance detailed in the BHTA’s industry standard document “Protect, Rinse & Dry, is routinely practised. Click HERE to view.

Does the mattress need to be covered with a sheet?

Yes.  Please use an appropriately fitting sheet.

Can the Aquatherm be used with any cot/surface?

The Aquatherm’s dimensions are clearly stated on the webpage.  Click HERE to view.  It is the Trust/Health Board’s responsibility to ensure that the cot/surface that is intended to support the mattress, is a suitable platform that can safely accommodate the Aquatherm.  The Aquatherm control unit is supplied with a mounting bracket and a choice of clamps to secure it to the receiving platform.  It is the Trust/Health Board’s responsibility to ensure that the control unit can be safely attached to this equipment.

The Aquatherm mattress fits within the plastic cradle of the Croyde Height Adjustable Overbed Cot and Storage Cot and each unit is supplied with an appropriate mounting bracket and clamp.

What alarms does the Aquatherm have:

A list of alarms is noted in the table below.  All alarms are audible and visual.  An acoustic alarm will sound and the relevant LED light will illuminate next to the indicator.

Medium-priority alarms illuminate yellow and high-priority alarms illuminate red

Priority Alarm Sound

Condition

HIGH TEMP alarm

Medium

When the read temperature on the mattress is ≥1°C higher than the set temperature

LOW TEMP alarm

Medium

When the read temperature on the mattress is ≥1°C lower than the set temperature

MAX TEMP alarm

High

When the read temperature on the mattress reaches 40°C

PROBE 1 alarm

High

The probe that regulates the heat output is defective/disconnected

POWER FAILURE alarm

High

Interruption in power supply. This alarm cannot be muted!

Can the alarms be muted?

Yes.  The MUTE Key is used to silence the alarms for 10 minutes from activation. The green LED light is illuminated when the mute function is activated.  Alarms will re-sound if a new alarm is activated or if 10 minutes have passed.

What happens when the Aquatherm is disconnected from mains power?

If the power supply is interrupted or subject to failure, the last value of set temperature is stored in the control unit memory.

The mattress is made of a heating element between a gel and a foam rubber padding. The gel delivers a soft uncompressible surface, minimizing vibrations and is able to retain heat for longer than conventional matts when the control unit is not powered.

What is the expected life span of the Aquatherm?

10 years

What is the warranty?  How often should it be serviced? What are the service contract options?

The Aquatherm is supplied with a 12month warranty.  It should be serviced every 6 months.  You can request a  document containing the service and maintenance contract options by contacting customerservice@croydemedical.co.uk .
